COUNTRY SAUSAGE GRAVY

This easy to make sausage gravy recipe is perfect for your next homemade breakfast of biscuits and gravy.

 

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 12oz package of maple flavored breakfast sausage
  • 3 cups of whole milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Cook sausage in a large skillet. Remove and set aside, leaving any drippings in skillet.
  2. Using medium heat, melt butter in the skillet with the drippings. Once melted, add flour and mix until nice and smooth.
  3. Slowly mix in milk and keep stirring or whisking until all is a nice and even consistency.
  4. Take the sausage and crumble into pieces and stir into to mixture. Also add pepper and salt. Mix well.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. If gravy gets too thick, stir in a little more milk.
  6. Serve over warm biscuits
