- 8 ounces of ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of pepper
- 1/4 cup of bread crumbs
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground chili pepper
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons of butter
sauce
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup thick cream
INSTRUCTIONS
- In large bowl, combine ground pork, ground beef, onion, egg, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, nutmeg, allspice and parsley. Mix the ingredients thoroughly and roll into 1 1/2 inch balls.
- Place the butter in a large skillet and, when working in batches, start frying the meatballs, cooking them on all sides until they are perfectly browned and cooked, about 10 minutes.
- Once the meatballs are cooked, put them aside and start preparing your sauce. Add the butter to the pan and once it is melted, add the flour by whisking quickly and forming a roux. Bake 1 to 2 minutes or until it begins to turn golden.
- Slowly add the beef broth, whisking all the time to prevent it from becoming lumpy. Once all the broth has been added, cook for 5-7 minutes or until the sauce begins to thicken.
- Add Worcestershire and heavy cream and continue cooking until sauce is thick enough to cover the back of a spoon.
- Add the meatballs t0 the sauce and c0ok them together for about 5 minutes.
- Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes.
